KARACHI, Feb 7: Four ships carrying containers and oil are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Friday, according to KPT sources.

Berth occupancy at the Bulk Oil Piers fell to 33 per cent owing to lesser calling by the oil tankers but at the dry wharves it rose to 62 per cent.

Ship movements at the wharves were relatively slow as five ships, three were berthed, while two sailed out during the last 24 hours.

The ships, which were berthed included Al-Manakh, Swat and Leixoes to unload and load containers, while Wan Hai-232 and Eastern Dharma sailed out.

Three others, Frauke, Warbah, and Leixoes are due to depart on Friday.

Cargo handling activity on the other hand was higher as the total tonnage rose to 89,223 tons comprising 11,900 tons of export tonnage including 1,177 tons of rice and 77,323 tons of import cargo including 4,301 tons of scrap and 1,907 tons of sulphur.

The following ships are due on Friday: Sea Ride-11, oil tanker, X-Press Dhaulagiri, Astor and MSC Alpana, with containers.
