HARIPUR, Feb 5: Like other parts of country, the Kashmir Solidarity Day was observed here on Tuesday to express support and solidarity with the Kashmiri brethren in their struggle to achieve their right to self-determination.
A big function to mark the day was held at the Tehsil Municipal Park by the district government. District Nazim Dr Raja Amer Zaman was the chief guest.
Speakers, while throwing light on the issue of Kashmir, supported the Kashmir policy of the government and urged it to extend and increase the moral and diplomatic help to the people of the held Kashmir.
Earlier, the Jamaat-i-Islami, Haripur chapter, took out a solidarity rally, which started from the Chowk Sheranwala Gate.
Speakers at the rally criticized the policies of the government about the United States and Afghanistan.
They assured the Kashmiris of their fullest support in the struggle to attain their right to self-determination.
Those spoke included Maulana Abdullah, Malik Jaleel and Syed Lal Shah.
CHARSADDA: Like other parts of the country Kashmir Solidarity Day was observed in Charsadda too to express solidarity with the people of Kashmir.
The main function in this connection was held at the Government High School No 1, on Tuesday which was addressed among others by District Nazim Nasir Mohammad Khan, Tehsil Charsadda Nazim Syed Masoom Shah and EDO Hidayatullah Khan Afghani.
The students of the school on this occasion presented special songs and through various dramas highlighted the plight of the Kashmiris.
The speakers, in their addresses, said the people of Pakistan were united to give full support to their Kashmiri brethren.
SWABI: As in other parts of the country, the “Kashmir Solidarity Day” was observed here on Tuesday.
A function was held at tehsil municipal administration hall, which was attended by the representatives of district and tehsil governments, officials of the local administration, education officers and school children. Speakers at the function expressed their views about the continued Kashmiri struggle against the occupation forces.
Speaking on the occasion, the convener of the district council, Mohammad Jamil, said without the resolution of Kashmir issue there would be no peace in South Asian region and the UN should play its due role for the implementation of its resolutions on Kashmir.
Swabi tehsil Nazim Masood Jabbar said: “In east Timor, the UN resolution was implemented within six months but the great powers and world body adopted double standards toward Kashmir. There was need for giving the right to self-determination to the Kashmiri people.”
RALLY: The Jamaat-i-Islami staged a peaceful procession. Passing through various streets, the processionists reached Kernal Sher Chowk where a meeting was held. Leaders of the religious parties addressed the meeting for more than three hours.
They said India, through its continued cross-border terrorism allegations, wanted to deflect the world attention from the gruesome military suppression in occupied Kashmir. But, they maintained, the indigenous struggle of the people of Kashmir would further blossom.
BUNER: The people of Buner district observed the day of solidarity with the Kashmiris by organising a walk, and protest procession.
The main function was held at Dr Qadir Khan colony, Daggar, where district Nazim Sirzamin Khan, Naib Nazim Mohammad Khan, DCO Badsha Gul Wazir, SSP Ghaniur Rehman Wazir, elite of the area, mediamen and workers of local NGOs participated.
Students from different schools also joined the walk which started from the Nazim’s office and culminated at Daggar bridge.
The participants were carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans highlighting the Kashmiris right to self-determination and their sacrifices.
Meanwhile, the Jamaat-i-Islami, Buner, organised a separate public meeting at the main business centre, Swari, where its leaders, Haji Fazali Raziq, Hazrat Mehmood, Habibur Rehman and Mohammad Hanif, expressed solidarity with the Kashmiris.
They said about 800,000 Indian armed personnel had unleashed a rein of terror to subjugate the people of Kashmir and crush their freedom struggle.
They urged the president to ask the US-led coalition to compel India to honour the United Nations resolutions giving Kashmiris the right to self-determination.
DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The day dawned with special prayers in the mosques for the success of the people Kashmir, struggling for their independence.
A rally was arranged by the local government which started from Town Hall and after a march on South Circular Road, ended at Dr Abdul Qadeer Chowk. Workers and office-holders of different political parties, including PPP, PML(N), JI, JUI(F) and others also, joined the rally which was led by district Nazim Latifullah Khan Alizai.
The participants were holding placards and banners in favour of Kashmiris and against the Indian atrocities in held Kashmir. They chanted slogans against India and Indian leadership inviting the world’s attention toward the inhuman and brutal attitude of the Indian government against the people of held Kashmir.
Speaking on the occasion, the district Nazim said Kashmir was an integral part of Pakistan. He said: “Our hearts are beating with the hearts of our Kashmiri brethren and sisters and India has an illegal claim over Kashmir.”
He said Pakistan had always extended moral, political and religious support to the people of Kashmir and never declined from its principles.
Alizai said Pakistan had always honoured world opinion on various issues but since 1948 was waiting to see the UN Resolution on Kashmir implemented.
