Narrow win for Remounts

LAHORE, Feb 4: KFC Remounts beat Samsung Mobiles 5-3 on opening day of the Samsung Venture polo tournament Monday.

Captain Haseeb drew first blood for Remounts in first chukker by scoring a field goal.

Six-goal handicapper Toto Collardin scored the only goal of second chukker to give Remounts a 2-0 lead.

Dr Iftikhar Ali Khan reduced the margin with a field goal at start of third chukker while Ramiro Garros, scored second goal for Mobiles.

In between the two goals, Captain Haseeb scored a field goal for Remounts with an angular shot to make scoreline 3-2 in favour of Remounts.

Taimur Mawaz scored a field goal to put Mobiles on even keel (3-3). Captain Shahryar scored back-to-back field goals to earn a clear 5-3 win.

Meanwhile Guard Rice beat Black Berets 9 1/2—5 in inaugural match of the Samsung Junior Cup Monday. Taimur Malik scored four goals for winners.

Guard Rice had advantage of half-a-goal on handicap.

For Guard Rice, Taimur Malik, (4) Ishaq Khakwani (2), Irfan Ali Hyder (2) and Shahzad (1) were the scorers.

Rashid Ali Baig (2) Lt.-Col Talha Saeed (1), Aslam (1) and Umer Shahbaz (1) scored for black Berets.
