GUJRANWALA, Feb 3: Over 200 ad hoc lady teachers have not been paid their salaries for the last two months.
The representatives of these teachers told newsmen here on Sunday that all government employees have been getting their wages according to the revised scales since December 2001 but the education authorities were not releasing their salaries. As a result, they were facing great financial problems.
Meanwhile, the District English Teachers Association through a resolution at a meeting here on Sunday demanded that two months’ salaries of English teachers should be released immediately.
The meeting also demanded that the services of all ad hoc teachers should be regularized.
SCHOOL INAUGURATED: District Nazim Fiaz Ahmad Chattha has stressed the need for the promotion of information technology and computer science.
He was speaking at the inauguration ceremony of a private school in Ghakar town on Sunday.
He said that the government would establish information technology centres at all district headquarters with the cooperation of the chambers of commerce and industry.

SUICIDE: A man committed suicide by setting himself on fire after quarrelling with his in-laws in Eminabad on Sunday.
Muhammad Abbas of Jinnah Colony demanded some money from his in-laws. He sprinkled kerosene oil on his body and set himself on fire when they refused.
He died on the way to local civil hospital.
10 POs held: Police claim to have arrested 10 proclaimed offenders.
The Gujranwala SSP told newsmen on Sunday that the arrested POs were involved in a number of murder, robbery and dacoity cases.
He said police recovered six pistols, two guns, two riffles and two revolvers from their possession.
