Mission tightens outpass rules

SHARJAH, Feb 3: The Pakistani Consulate General in Dubai has tightened rules regarding outpasses (temporary travel documents) used to deport Pakistanis who have either illegally entered the country, lost their passports, or are in jails without travel documents.

Consul General Amanullah Larik said: “We changed our procedure because we found that some people were trying to misuse the lenient policy to clear the large number of applications.”

He told a local newspaper that the policy has also been revised due to security reasons. “We received complaints from local sponsors that some Pakistani workers who have taken loans, or are involved in similar cases, managed to get outpasses and have fled the country leaving their passports with their sponsors.”—NNI
