HYDERABAD, Feb 3: A three-member fact-finding team of the HRCP on Saturday released the report about the triple murder case of Mirza Lodo Goth and Daro, Mirpurkhas, on the pretext of Karo-kari, which is rare in lower Sindh.
The team was led by the provincial coordinator core groups, Akhtar Baloch.
It may be recalled here that a girl, Safeena (16), her brother, Rab Dino, and a relative of theirs, Aajiz Lodo, were killed in cold blood on Jan 29.
The fact-finding team after meeting with the relatives of the deceased, alleged killers, doctor, the investigating police officer, and other people arrived at the conclusion that the allegations of Karo-kari against Safeena and Aajiz were absolutely baseless.
The report said that this had been confirmed by the doctor.
It said that the killings were an outcome of the taunts by the other communities of the area. It appeared that these people had also provided weapons to the accused and helped in the planning of the murders.
The fact-finding report further said that the police should not have ignored this side of the investigation and ought to have taken action against those people who had instigated the accused to commit the murders.
The report said that some respectable people of the area believed that a Jirga should be convened and the heirs of the deceased should be paid money and the matter should be shelved.
The report has called upon the elected representatives of the people and the police not to allow the convening of the Jirga as it would encourage such incidents. It also urged the active members of NGOs to launch a movement and educate the people against the black custom of Karo-kari.
