KARACHI: Three men killed, one commits suicide: Eight cars, 17 bikes hijacked

KARACHI, Feb 3: Twenty-five vehicles —eight cars and 17 motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in the city on Sunday, the police said.

Two cars were hijacked. Six others were stolen.

Three motorcycles were hijacked. Fourteen others were stolen.

SUICIDE: A middle-aged man working in an eating house in Saddar committed suicide on Sunday.

The police said that Mohammed Zaman, aged 50, hanged himself in his quarter. He resided near his workplace.

The body was sent to Jinnah Post-graduate Medical Centre for post-mortem, the police said.

The police could not immediately ascertain the motive for the suicide.

KILLED: Three men were killed in the city on Sunday.

Unidentified assailants shot a man to death in Kharadar in the night.

The police said that Sadiq Ali Humshery, aged 40, a bakery-owner, was shot dead by two men in his Humshery Bakery. Sadiq was inside his bakery when two unidentified armed men entered the bakery, sprayed him with bullets and escaped on a motorcycle. The victim received at least two bullets in the head. He died on the spot.

The body was sent to Civil Hospital for post-mortem, the police said.

An official at Kharadar police station said that the killing seemed to be sectarian motivated, as the assailants did not take any cash away from the bakery.

A young man was found murdered in Federal B-Industrial Area.

The police said that the victim, identified as Mohammed Bakhsh, aged 24, was cut into parts from the abdomen by a sharp-edged weapon by unknown assailants. The body was found dumped near a drain in Block 22 of Federal B-Industrial Area.

The body was sent to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for post-mortem, the police said.

The police could not immediately ascertain the dead man’s background, and were clueless about the motive for the killing.

The dead man resided here in Abbas Town, and had came to Karachi from Jacobabad, with his brother Sachal, for work.

Sachal told the police that his brother worked in a food company, and he had left his Abbas Town residence at seven in the evening and did not return.

An unidentified young man was found shot dead in Kalakot police limits.

The police said that the young man was shot in the head. His body was found near the Haji Camp on Sunday night.

The body was sent to Civil Hospital for post-mortem, the police said.

After post-mortem the body had been kept in the Edhi’s morgue for identification, the police said.

DIES OF BURNS: A middle-aged man died of burns in North Nazimabad on Sunday.

The police said that Bashir Ahmed, aged 50, died of burns when his hut was gutted by fire in North Nazimabad’s Block B near the KESC Office.

He was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

Sources at the hospital said that the dead man’s medicolegal report had been reserved till the receipt of the histopathological and chemical report from the chemical examiner.
