CHRISTCHURCH, Jan 31: Pakistan coach Haroon Rasheed Thursday blamed his batsmen for team’s failure to reach the semifinals of the ICC Under-19 World Cup.
“Had they performed well and won the game against West Indies, we would have finished on the top in Super League,” Haroon said.
“Our batsmen failed to apply themselves. Batsman never tried their best to stay at the wicket. They have the potential but they played below par.
“The only problems they had that they failed to come in terms with situation in matches.” he asserted.
He said despite disappointment and bad performance he still believed Kamran Sajid and Khaqan Arsal were good prospects.
“Umer Gul, Mohammad Khalil and Junaid Zia bowled superbly throughout on grassless and batting pitches” he credited Pakistan pace trio.—APP
