CHARSADDA, Jan 30: Nazimeen, for the first time in Charsadda, staged a walkout from the district council.

They were, led by Dherizardad Union Council Mohammad Nawaz Khan, protesting against the interference by the convener of the council for not taking the Nazimeen into confidence on various important issues. Women councillors and minority members also joined the walkout.

But after the assurance of the convener that the proceedings of the council would be run jointly giving each member his due right.

During the session, the members besides criticizing the poor function of Wapda and some other departments, asked the convener to ensure the presence of all departments’chief in the council in future so they could listen and reply the complaints about their respective departments.

shutdowns resented: Shopkeepers community in Charsadda on Tuesday threatened that if the unscheduled and long loadshedding was not stopped immediately they would take to the streets against Wapda and encircle its offices in the district.

In a hurriedly-called meeting of Muttahida Shopkeepers Association, presided over by Ihsan Ullah Surki, president of the association, they said that this unscheduled loadshedding had made the lives of the people miserable.

They also expressed concern over the mismanagement of traffic in the Tehsil bazars and said that vehicles were parked in front of shops and the main road was used as addas.
