Provincial autonomy demanded

Published January 29, 2002

THATTA, Jan 28: The Sindh Democratic Alliance (SDA) has demanded the provincial autonomy within the federal framework.

Speakers at SDA’s first public meeting here on Monday deplored that Sindh was not getting its appropriate share in the National Financr Commission award and warned Punjab to correct its attitude towards the smaller provinces.

They demanded the strict implementation of 1991 water accord which they believed was the only option to prevent the fertile land of Sindh from turning barren.

The speakers included Imtiaz Shaikh, Jalal Mehmood Shah and Shafqat Hussain Shirazi.
