By Our Correspondent

NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, Jan 25: The Kandiaro police arrested six men including a head constable and an Excise constable and seized 15 kg charas from their possession on the National Highway, near Kandiaro, on Friday.

The SDPO, Kandiaro, Muzaffar Hussain Kalor, was tipped off that a car carrying drugs would be arriving to Bahria from Sukkur. So he deputed ASI Abdul Sattar and two head constables, M. Moosa and Mehram, at Bhiria.

The police team stopped the car (KYC 9106) carrying drugs on the highway, recovered a gunny bag containing 15 packets of charas, and arrested Head Constable Basheer Ahmed, who was driving the car, his brother, Ghous Bux Khawar, M. Alam, and Akbar.

All were taken to the Kandiaro police station where during interrogation Mr Basheer disclosed that the charas was to be handed over to a drug trafficker, Abdul Ghani, at Bihria town.

The SHO, Kandiaro, and Inspector Ghulam Shabbir raided Mr Ghani’s house and arrested him and another man, M. Ayub, who was armed with a TT pistol.

Mr Ayub was identified as Excise police constable. Talking to this correspondent, the SDPO said that the car used for trafficking was a stolen one.

RALLY: A rally was taken out from Tharushah road to the SSP office on Friday to protest against the rise in drug trafficking.

The protesters submitted a list of drug traffickers containing the names of Abbas Shah, Taimur Shah, Ibrahim Shah, Ameer Shah, and Ghulam Shah among others to the SSP so that action could be taken against them.

The SSP forwarded the application to the Bhirya police for taking action and establishing a police kiosk at the Kataee Shah village.
