KPT emerge winners

KARACHI, Jan 24: Karachi Port Trust (KPT) emerged winners of the Pakistan Ranking boxing tournament which ended Tuesday night at the National Sports Training and Coaching Centre (NSTCC).

KPT boxers snatched four gold, two silver and four bronze medals to finish with 20 points.

A total of 55 boxers competed in the tournament.

Army with four gold, three silver and one bronze stood second followed by WAPDA with three gold and two silvers. Army had finished in top position in the first ranking tournament held in November 2001 with KPT in second place.

Bantamweight: Maharullah (KPT) bt Aqeel Ahmed (Army)

Featherweight: Haider Ali (WAPDA) bt Shahid Jan (KPT)

Lightweight: Muhammad Sajid Raja (KPT) bt Zahid Hussain (KPT)

Light Welterweight: Asghar Ali Shah (KPT) bt Javed Jan (KESC)

Welterweight: Kashif Mumtaz (Army) bt Zakir Hussain (KESC)

Light Middleweight: Endleeb Khan (Army) walk-over M. Anwar (WAPDA)

Middleweight: Ahmed Ali Khan (Army) bt Abdul Rasheed (Balochistan)

Light Heavyweight: Muhammad Sharif (KESC) bt Tanveer Shoukat (Army)

Heavyweight: Shoukat Ali (Army) by Shuja Abbas (WAPDA)

Superweight: Muzaffar Iqbal (Army) bt Ejaz Ahmed (Sindh).—APP
