KARACHI, Jan 23: Farhan Noor, a promising youngster from Lahore caused the first upset on the opening day in the Red & White Nationals pre-qualifiers, when he toppled the Sindh National Champion Mohammad Akhlas 3-1, at the Indus Snooker Club.

Chalking up a break of 51 in the opening frame, Farhan went ahead only to see Akhlas bounce back with 39 points on his second visit to the table to level the scores 1-1. Farhan pocketed the third frame 49/10 to take over the lead again and emerged a 3-1 winner, when he fired in a break of 46 in the final frame.

This victory enabled the Lahore youngster to perch himself on top in his Pool. Earlier in the opening match of the day, he accounted for another promising youngster Aamir Sikander 3-2. Aamir potting to perfection snatched the opening two frames and seemed on course for a comfortable victory.
