RAWALPINDI, Jan 22: Rawalpindi routed Rest of NWFP by 125 runs inside three days in their Quaid Trophy Grade I match at the Rawalpindi Stadium Tuesday.

Chasing a total of 298 runs for victory, the Rest were dismissed for 172 after they had resumed at four for one. The wrecker-in-chief was Test-reject Muhammad Zahid who picked up four for 33 while another pacer Yasir Arafat captured three and so did spinner Munir Ansari.

The Rest were never expected to pose a threat to Rawalpindi and yielded in quick time with only opener Ahmad Said putting up a bit of resistance with a knock of 78.

The victory, Rawalpindi’s second in the competition, earned them 12 points. They now travel to Sialkot for their next match.
