75 per cent poll work completed in Chitral

PESHAWAR, Jan 22: Like other parts of the country, pre-election arrangements are in full swing in Chitral district while the officials concerned expect that schedule work will be completed before the deadline.

This was stated by Assistant Election Commissioner Chitral, Amanat Ali Shah during a briefing here on Monday.

He said the 75 per cent work had been completed and it was expected that all arrangements would be completed before the specified time. He informed the participants that door-to-door campaign was in the last stages aimed at preparing authentic voters list, avoiding any mistake or ambiguity.

Regarding the measures taken to streamline the process and make every thing black and white, he said the elected representatives of the newly-established district government were involved in the process.

Regarding the guideline given to the quarters concerned, the AEC said training had been already imparted to the major staff members on all required subjects while the process would continue in the remaining areas.

Answering a question regarding public awareness, Mr Amanat said advertisements and discussions in local language had already been launched from Radio Pakistan Chitral while members of different segments of the society had been motivated for this purpose. Public response and feedback in this connection was quite positive.—APP
