BISE men demand pay under new scales

GUJRANWALA, Jan 20: Employees of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Gujranwala, have expressed concern over non-payment of their salaries according to new pay scales.

Office-bearers of the Board Employees Welfare Association alleged that a deputy director (finance) was creating hurdles in the payment of their salaries according to new pay scales without any justification.

Meanwhile, teachers of elementary schools of Naushera Virkan tehsil have protested against the education authorities for not disbursing their salaries for the last three months.

UNION COUNCILS: The district government will grant an amount of Rs61,000 each per month to all the union councils to meet with their expenditures.

This was stated by district Nazim Fiaz Ahmad Chattha while speaking at a reception hosted by former PPP MNA Abdullah Virk in Raja village here on Saturday.

He said all the schemes of union councils would be got completed under the supervision of the heads of these councils.

FOUR KILLED: Four people, including a newly-wed woman, were killed while 24 others were injured in separate road accidents in and around the city on Sunday.

Newly-wed Saira Bibi was going along with her husband, Mushtaq, by a motorcycle-rickshaw when a truck hit them at an overhead bridge in Wazirabad. Saira died on the spot, while her husband sustained injuries. The injured was taken to the local Civil Hospital in critical condition.

Yousaf of Dhonewal village, Kamoki, was knocked down by a bus while crossing the GT Road.

One Abdul Ghafoor of Alipur Chattha was killed while 12 others were injured when a wagon collided with a stationary tractor-trolley. The injured were taken to hospitals.

A Naushera Virkan-bound bus rammed into a roadside tree near Karyal Kalan village. One Yaqoob died on the spot while 12 others sustained injuries. The injured were taken to hospital where the condition of two of them was stated to be serious.
