Education dept told to register private institutes

GUJRAT, Jan 18: The Education department has been directed to get registered all private educational institutions throughout the district before March 21.

This was stated by district Nazim Chaudhry Shafaat Hussain at a meeting of the district council held here on Friday.

He also nominated eight-member district education advisory council, including advisory council head Syed Noorul Hassan Shah, Tabina Ahmad (EDO education), Syed Fiaz Anwar, Chaudhry Shafaat Warraich, Syed Mumtaz Shah, Aftab Dar and Zohra Mir.

Members of the advisory council had been instructed to pinpoint the un-registered private institutions, he said.

The district Nazim also asked Shafaat Warraich, chairman of district private schools management association, to indicate the problems being faced by owners of the registered private institutions.

He warned that a disciplinary action would be taken against the department concerned if its high-ups failed to get registered the private educational institutions within the stipulated period.

Sources said over 1,500 private primary, middle, high and higher secondary institutions had been running without registration in the Gujrat district for the last 15 years.

TWO SHOT DEAD: Six outlaws shot dead two persons and wounded another over an old enmity in Dheerkay Klan on Friday.

Pervaiz Butt, Mudassar and Mubashar were present at a barber shop when outlaws came there and opened fire on them. Pervaiz and Mudassar died instantly while Mubashar sustained serious injuries. He was shifted to the DHQ Hospital where his condition was stated to be critical. Bodies of the deceased persons were sent to mortuary for autopsy.

Saddar police have registered a case against four nominated and two unidentified outlaws.

COP ESCAPES: A traffic police constable on Thursday escaped from the premises of a local court after the rejection of his bail application.

A case had been registered against constable Mehboob Butt and Nadeem Butt on the charge of torturing a man, Shabbir Hussain.

ASI Zafar caught fleeing Nadeem while Mehboob managed to escape.

NOMINATED: Tehrik-i-Istiqlal central president Rehmat Khan Wardak nominated Rana Zahid and Sheikh Yasin chairman of the Punjab and Sindh, respectively. This was given out by district president Syed Baqir Rizvi while talking to Dawn here on Friday.
