RAWALPINDI, Jan 16: Islamabad struggled to score runs in difficult conditions as play in their Quaid Trophy Grade-I game against Rest of NWFP finally started late Wednesday, the third day of the match at the KRL Stadium.
There had been no play on the first two days of this four-day game because of rain and when it did start at 1.30 pm, Islamabad found runs hard to score on a pitch apparently still damp and by the close were a 100 for seven in their second innings.
Both captains had mutually agreed to forfeit their first innings in order to make the match result-oriented.
The Rest spinner Noorul Amin was the destroyer-in-chief, taking four for 21. Opener Ali Naqvi led the scoring with 33 while Furrukh Hayat chipped in with 22. Later in the order, Rauf Akbar put on 21 runs.
Meanwhile, for the third successive day, there was no play in the match between Rawalpindi and Peshawar at the Rawalpindi Stadium.
