SHEIKHUPURA, Jan 16: Dacoits on Tuesday night injured a shopkeeper and made off with cash and valuables worth Rs200,000 from the shop on the Jandiala Road.

Abdul Hamid was busy dealing with customers when two dacoits appeared on a motorbike and shot at and injured the shopkeeper. They collected cash and valuables and fled firing in the air.

Meanwhile, the residents of the locality condemned the growing lawlessness and urged the police to set up a picket on the Jandiala Road to check crime.

In another incident, two highwaymen beat one Hamid and drove away with his two-wheeler (LXN-205) on his way back home near Sahoki-Mallian on Wednesday.

Saddar police are investigating.

RAPED: An 18-year-old maid was criminally assaulted by his owner and his accomplices in Nokhar village, some 15km from here, on Tuesday night.

Iftikhar invited his two friends, took liquor and forcibly raped the girl.

Farooqabad police have registered a case with no arrest so far.

RECOVERED: The local drug inspector on Wednesday raided dozens of clinics and medical stores and recovered intoxicated syrup and other impure drugs.

Headed by inspector Ajmal Sohail, the team raided the stores in the town and recovered spurious and expired drugs. They sealed the clinics and medical stores and sent the samples to the laboratory for analysis.

The owners of the places managed to escape.
