GUJRANWALA, Jan 16: Dacoits looted two houses and the family of a councillor in three strikes in and around the city on Wednesday.

Three outlaws forced their entry into the house of former deputy mayor Muhammad Arif in Jalil Town and held up the inmates at gunpoint. They fled after collecting cash, 100-tola jewellery and valuables.

Four bandits took away cash and gold from the house of a jeweller, Allah Ditta, in Tetley.

The family of councillor Muhammad Rafiq was deprived of cash and gold ornaments by three robbers when they were on their way to Aroon village.

PROTEST: Residents of Wahando have protested against the Public Health Department for not rectifying water supply motors for the last three years and demanded that water schemes should be set in order without any delay.

At a meeting held on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Wahando Union Council Nazim Rana Ayub Alam, the participants said the department concerned was not rectifying the defective motors despite several complaints.

They threatened that they would not pay any tax to the district government if their grievance was not resolved.
