HYDERABAD, Jan 15: The registrar, Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences, has announced that the practical and viva-voce examination of final professional MBBS 2001 of Medicine will be held from Jan 21 to Jan 25.

ELECTION: The registrar, Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences, Jamshoro, announced here on Tuesday that election to the syndicate of the university against two reserved seats for the senate members of the university under the university ordinance would be held on Jan 23 at the campus.

The last date for submission of the nomination forms in the office of the registrar has been fixed at Jan 16 by 12:00 noon.

The nomination papers can be withdrawn up to Jan 19 while the balloting will be held from 10:00am to 12:00 noon on Jan 23.

The results of the election will be announced on the same day after counting of votes.

The nomination forms can be had from the office of the registrar.

WELCOME: The day-one ceremony for the first year MBBS students was held in the Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences, Jamshoro, here on Tuesday.

The vice chancellor, Professor Jan Mohammad A. Memon, was the chief guest on the occasion.

Professor Abdul Latif Soomro, registrar, introduced the faculty members of the university.

Dr Sirajul Haq Shaikh, controller of examinations welcomed the students on their admission to the first public sector medical university of the country and congratulated their parents. He introduced the top three students admitted to the LUMHS from each district of the province.

The vice chancellor urged the students to devote their energies and time for the acquisition of knowledge and training so that they could become competent doctors and be able to serve the ailing humanity.

He advised the parents to keep themselves actively involved in the education process of their children and to remain in touch with the administration and the teachers concerned in this regard.

The vice chancellor also distributed cheques amongst six debaters of the university as prize money from the University Grants Commission for their outstanding performance in the debates organized by the UGC.
