15 religious activists arrested

KHAIRPUR, Jan 14: Khairpur police have arrested 15 activists of two recently banned religious organizations and sealed their four offices during last 24 hours in different parts of the district.

The office of Jaish-i-Mohammad situated here in Jilani Mohalla, and three offices of Sipah-i-Sahaba Pakistan, each in Khairpur, Gambat and Garhi Mori, have been sealed while their 15 activists have been arrested.

SIT-IN: Scores of the employees of Sindh public health engineering (PHE) department staged a protest sit-in outside the office of the PHE here on Monday.

The protesters told the newsmen that 162 employees working on the basis of daily wages at division 1 and 2 of the PHE, Khairpur, had not been paid their salaries for last two years.

They alleged that the concerned officials at PHE DG office, Hyderabad, were demanding a huge gratification for the payment of their salaries.

They said that their families were living in a state of starvation and demanded early payment of their salaries.

CLASH: Four persons were injured in a clash between two groups over setting a fence near the shrine of Pir Ashiq Shah in Kot Diji the other day.

Axes and sticks were used in the clash as a result Faqir Mohammad Lashari, his two sons, Mohammad Saleem and Allah Rakhio, and Rafique Indhar were injured and admitted to Kot Diji hospital.

Kot Diji police have registered a case against 13 persons of both groups.
