PROMOTIONS AWAITED: At least 28 senior prosecuting inspectors have been waiting for their promotions since the last four years as the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) concerned fails to meet and decide about their cases.
This correspondent learnt on Monday that since 1999 the DPC, headed by the Sindh home secretary with the inspector general of police and the secretary finance as its members, had not met due to one or another reason.
Presently only two full-fledged prosecuting deputy superintendents are working in the entire Sindh province in Sukkur and Ghotki districts while the rest of the stations are being looked after by the prosecuting inspectors.
The senior inspectors in a mercy petition to the IG Police, Sindh, said that they had joined the Sindh Police as prosecuting sub-inspectors in 1971 and promoted to the rank of PI only.
