ISLAMABAD, Jan 14: Former Sindh chief minister Liaquat Jatoi met the President of the Pakistan Muslim League (Q), Mian Mohammad Azhar, and offered his services for the party.
Mr Jatoi, who had gone on a self-exile soon after the military takeover on Oct 12, 1999, returned on Monday and met the leaders of PML, led by Mian Azhar.
Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Jam Yousaf, Haleem Siddiqui, Ghous Bakhsh Mehar, Aleem Adil Shaikh, Naseer Mengal, Azeem Chaudhry, Yhaya Munnawar, Maqbool Shaikh and Aslam Raho were also present at the meeting.
Talking to the Muslim League leaders, Mr Jatoi said he had come back with a desire to make a fresh beginning. He asked his fellow Muslim Leaguers, to forget the past acrimonies and adopt a forward-looking approach.
He said they could not serve the country if they remained entangled in the past.
Mr Jatoi vowed to serve the party under the leadership of Mian Azhar. The views expressed by Mr Jatoi were appreciated by the Muslim League leaders, a source said, adding that he was warmly welcomed.
Mr Jatoi’s provincial government was dismissed by former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and governor’s rule was imposed.
