PARIS, Jan 13: France on Sunday welcomed Musharraf’s pledge to stand against terrorism and crack down on religious extremism, saying it could pave the way for a solution to the India-Pakistan crisis.

“We had called on Pakistani authorities to resolutely pursue their action against terrorism. The determination expressed yesterday by President Musharraf and measures taken against many extremists are important and positive,” the foreign affairs ministry said in a statement.—Reuters
