Two rice traders kidnapped

LARKANA, Jan 12: Eight unidentified armed bandits kidnapped two rice traders and their driver from the outskirts of the city on late Friday night. Later they left the driver and took away the traders.

The bandits intercepted a car near a bridge in the jurisdiction of the Taluka police station, some 10 kilometres off here, and after overpowering the occupants kidnapped them.

The kidnap victims were identified as Zulfiqar Ali Rajput, Aslam Rajput, rice traders, and Moharram Daipar, driver, all residents of Lalu Raink town, police said.

They added that a heavy police contingent was following the kidnappers who preferred to flee on foot leaving behind the car.

Later police recovered the driver while for the remaining two victims, they have surrounded village Aarija where according to sources the kidnappers had taken refuge.

Police also made certain arrests in this connection, sources said.

ARRESTED: After an exchange of fire with some robbers, Naudero police arrested an alleged robber and foiled a robbery attempt on Saturday morning.

The robbers scaled in the house of Ghulam Ali Chahwan and at gunpoint deprived the inmates of valuable articles and herded away a buffalo.

The robbers later confronted an ambush police party near Garhi Khuda Bakhsh Bhutto and after a brief encounter injured and arrested Mehar Shaikh.

They recovered from his possession a Kalashnikov, one magazine and 17 bullets with the buffalo and other robbed articles.

Larkana DPO, Ghulam Nabi Memon, promoted a policeman, Ghulam Momin, who fought bravely with the robbers.

APPOINTED: Larkana DCO has appointed district Nazim, Khursheed Junejo, and Naib Nazim, Nazir Bughio honorary members of district civil defence warden service organization.
