KARACHI, Jan 9: Dusky opener Asim Kamal made amends for his double failures in the opening game by stroking an unbeaten 86 as Karachi Blues reached 170 for three in their first innings on the second day of the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy Grade-I fixture against Balochistan at KCCA Stadium here Wednesday.

The bearded left-hander, who scored 0 and 2 against Karachi Whites last week, struck six fours and one in his 205-ball knock. Nomanullah hit 43 with the aid of six fours during a second wicket stand of 104 with Asim in just under three hours.

Medium-pacer Faisal Irfan gave Balochistan a dream start when he clean bowled Mir Rashid with the very first ball of Karachi Blues’ innings. Zeeshan Pervez also went cheaply as Waqas Chughtai had him caught behind for nine.

Earlier, Naseer Khan, who resumed at his overnight score of 56, was last out for 84 as Balochistan were eventually bowled out for 254 in their first innings.

The burly all-rounder hammered seven fours and four sixes his 142-ball innings.
