LARKANA, Jan 9: The district coordination officer (DCO), Larkana, M. Hashim Leghari, asked the officials of the departments concerned to remain alert at all times in case of war breaking out and to take the necessary steps regarding any emergency situation.

The DCO chaired a meeting of the Civil Defence, which was also attended by the director, Civil Defence, Sindh, Nayyer Mehmood, and the officials of the federal and provincial departments on Wednesday.

A control room will be established in the office of the DCO, which can be contacted on phone number 0741-446820 and it would work round-the-clock in case of an emergency.

The director, Civil Defence, said that the police, health, and the works department would play a vital role in an emergency so they should remain prepared in advance. He further said that during national emergency the elected representatives’ role could be very important.

He disclosed that two Quick Response Teams consisting of doctors and engineers would be constituted in the district.

He said that all the departments should nominate at least three employees for civil defence training.

The DCO, Larkana, appealed to citizens to realize their responsibilities and keep vigil on the activities of anti-state elements.

He said that in case of any suspicious activities inform immediately on phone numbers 15 and 16.
