Eight gamblers arrested

DADU, Jan 6: Eight gamblers were arrested in a raid on a gambling den at Dhamali Chowk, Dadu town, on Saturday night.

The police raided the den and arrested two teachers of the Pilot Secondary High School, Dadu, M. Ismail Thaheem and Altaf; Shahnawaz, a gardener of the Army Public School; M. Yaseen Khushik, a landlord of the area; Ali Hassan Pathan, Aftab Siyal, Hayat Jamali, and Arz M. Lund. The police seized playing cards, a huge amount of cash and other valuables from their possession.

Some gamblers scuffled with the police as a result of which two managed to escape.

The police registered two separate FIRs against the accused under section 5 of the gambling act, and under section 353 of the PPC.

THREE HELD: Three outlaws were arrested by the Dadu town police on the Dadu-Johi link road on Sunday.

A heavy contingent of police surrounded the area and arrested the three outlaws — Abdul Nabi Jamali, Rasool Bux Jamali and Ghulam Sarwar Jamali — while they were headed towards Johi forest.

The police seized three automatic pistols, 60 bullets, 10 cartridges and a motorcycle. They claimed that the accused were involved in the killing of two men — Rahmatullah Jamali and Niaz Khoso.
