Lahore, Jan 4: Several passengers sustained injuries when a passenger train derailed near the Narang Mandi railway station on Friday.
The Narowal-bound train (L-383) left the Lahore station at 3pm. Before reaching Narang, the locomotive and three bogies derailed.
The railway police, civic agencies and the locals joined the rescue operation and shifted the injured to a nearby hospital in Narang. The accident caused damage to Narrang Mandi loop and main rails which resulted in suspension of traffic of the section. The locomotive was badly destroyed in the crash.
The railway authorities have so far failed to ascertain the exact cause of the derailment.
