Champions Army rout Wapda

LAHORE, Jan 3:National champions Army earned a facile  12-6 victory against Wapda in the Morven Gold National Inter-department baseball championship at the Iqbal Parks ground on Thursday.

Army displayed constant performance in the match, scoring one run in the first innings and two in the second. The third innings could not yield any run, but Army recouped its loss by scoring four runs in the fourth innings, and another three in the fifth with the sixth producing two runs.

The humbled Wapda made a good start scoring five runs in the first two innings, but could not maintain the scoring spree as scored only one more run in the remaining four innings.

For Army, Aashiq Husain was the key scorer. He scored three runs with one home run. International Kamran Mahboob, Sarfraz Ahmad, Zafar Iqbal and Riaz Khan contributed two runs each. Abdur Rahman scored one run.

For Wapda, Abu Bakar scored two runs while Iftikhar Ahmad, Ali Shah, Asghar Siddique and Ahmad Fraz added one run each.
