Schools closed in border areas
SIALKOT, Jan 3: All the government and private schools have been closed in border areas near the Sialkot working boundary due to mounting Pakistan-India tension.
When contacted, the authorities concerned of the education department said after the imposition of emergency in the district, there had been no chance of opening educational institutions in border villages.
Meanwhile, another 11 houses were damaged by Indian shelling on border villages in Chhumb, Joriyaan, Bajwat, Sucheetgarh and Shakargarh sectors on Thursday. No causality was reported as these villages have already been evacuated by villagers.
According to official sources, heavy Indian shelling was reported from Bajragarhi, Harpal, Charwa, Jammu, Chaprar, Akhnoor and Zafarwal sectors.
Meanwhile, three big Indian defensive pillars were destroyed by the Chenab Rangers during a retaliation in the Chhumb Joriyaan sector.
The Rangers also arrested two Bengalis, Mehmood Ahmad and Sher Ali, for illegally entering Pakistan through the Sialkot working boundary’s Charwa sector.
An official announcement was also made on loudspeaker in which the district government asked people to be alert to meet any eventuality.
US CONGRESSMEN: Three members of the American Congress, Joseph R. Pitts, Frank Wolf and Tony Hall, will visit the Inayat Begum Memorial Trust Hospital, Kotli Noonan, Sambrial, Daska tehsil, on Friday.
According to a press release issued by the hospital management, the American Congressmen will donate an ambulance and wheelchairs to the hospital. — Correspondent
