Youths resorted to heavy aerial firing at midnight on Tuesday and exploded crackers to celebrate the new year.

The police adopted strict security measures on Monday night to prevent youths from gathering at different points of the city to celebrate the new year. All the main thoroughfares and roads leading to the press club, Gymkhana Chowk and Saddar area had been blocked from different points so that youths could not gather there.
