PESHAWAR, Jan 1: Dwellers of Tirah valley have asked the government to carry out development work in their area as reward for cooperation extended by tribesmen in the war against terrorism.
Speaking at a press conference at Peshawar Press Club, the elders of Kokikhel tribe, majority tribe in Tirah, demanded that the government should take effective measures to redress the problems being faced by people of the area.
“When the government decided to guard areas bordering Tora Bora area of Afghanistan, members of Kokikhel tribe unanimous welcomed the army personnel,” they said and added that it was the result of cooperation extended by tribesmen that the army had made checkpoints in the area.
The elders demanded provision of communication facilities, health facilities, education, electricity, agriculture development, employment, potable water and approval of Lungi allowance.—APP
