PSF advised to send four female swimmers

LAHORE, Dec 30: The Asian Swimming Federation vice president Woon Sui Kut has suggested to the Pakistan Swimming Federation (PSF) to send four female swimmers instead of two in the upcoming Asian Games to be held at Pusan, South Korea next year.

 Sui Kut who conducted the IOC Solidarity swimming coaches course at a local hotel here from Dec 25 to 30 while addressing its closing ceremony said that Pakistani women swimmers showed tremendous performance in the Islamic Women Games in Iran, therefore, they must be given proper representation in the Asian Games.

He also arranged the training camp of the Pakistani girl swimmers in Singapore in preparations for the 9th SAF Games.

In all 28 coaches including six women participated in the course which was reduced from 14 days to six days only.

Pakistan Swimming Federation secretary, Mohammad Latif Butt, said that the course had to be curtailed to six days because of non-availability of Woon Sui Kut. He said that under the IOC instructions, the PSF was bound to hold it by Dec 31st, otherwise, it would have been cancelled.

Following participants were awarded certificates:

Women: Mrs Saleha Khan, Mrs Bushra Butt, Miss Khadija Amjad, Miss Sadia Akram (Punjab), Mrs Shagufta Shishmahal, Miss Nida Waqar (Sindh).

Men: Muhammad Maroof, Liaqat Ali, Sabir Husain Shah, Intizar Husain Shah, Akhtar Zeb, Mohammad Taz (Army), Mushtaq Ali Naz (Navy), Khalid Zaman (Wapda), Walayat Husain (Balochistan), Jabbar Rahim Khan (NWFP), Mohammad Ali Shishmahal, Javed Taqi (Sindh), Hammad Asghar Awan,  Atif Rafiq, Mohammad Sajid Faiz, Kamran Ahmad Jabbar, Hafiz Mohammad Saeed (Pakistan Swimming Coaches Association), Sikander Hayat, Saleem Ahmad Bhatti, Raja Rasheed Ahmad, Mohammad Faisal Riaz and Aurang Zeb (Punjab).
