FAISALABAD, Dec 30: The Faisalabad Development Authority will launch an operation against the illegal use of residential plots as commercial sites from the next week.

This was stated by FDA Director-General Maqsood Khawaja while talking to this correspondent here on Sunday.

He said the Punjab government had not only relaxed rules and regulations but also reduced the fee considerably in its newly introduced commercialization policy.

About the salient features of the new policy, he said that five per cent discount would be given on full payment for the permanent commercialization fee while health, education and information technology institutions would be offered 50 per cent off on similar terms.

The DG said that on payment of 50 per cent permanent commercialization fee, the rest of the amount could be paid in three equal instalments after every four months.

For temporary commercialization, he said if the building was not situated on the commercial road, an NOC should be secured from neighbours while no change would be allowed in the building structure.

Legal action would be taken against those who failed to avail the opportunity within the stipulated period, he said.

Special committees had already been constituted by the FDA in this regard and no one would be spared at any cost, he added.
