Tax officials accused of harassment

By Our Correspondent

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Dec 30: The local excise and taxation staff has started conducting a property survey for the assessment of property tax in violation of the government’s self-assessment property tax policy.

The parties headed by property tax inspectors are not only visiting and trying to confirm the details of the properties but are also creating troubles for the general public. Those who do not allow them entry in their houses, are treated harshly by the survey teams and are threatened of serious consequences.

A number of complaints in this regard have been made inviting the attention of the provincial revenue minister and the district Nazim.
