Proclaimed offender killed in ‘encounter’

By Our Correspondent

LAKKI MARWAT, Dec 30: A proclaimed offender was killed in an encounter with police some 25 kilometres from here in the early hours of Sunday.

On a tip-off, officiating SP Lakki district, Sikander Khan, constituted a police party that raided the house of the proclaimed offender, Islamuddin, at the Kakakhel village. The raiding party was headed by SHO Latifullah of the Ghaznikhel police station.

When the police surrounded the house, the outlaw opened indiscriminate fire and attacked the police party with hand grenade, which exploded near the police personnel. However, all of them remained unhurt.

The fire was returned by the police, killing Islamuddin. The police also recovered a Kalashnikov, a hand grenade, four magazines and 25 rounds from his house.

Later, SP Sikander Khan told a press briefing that the proclaimed offender had become a symbol of terror in the area. “He was wanted to the Lakki as well as Dera Ismail Khan police in several heinous crimes of murder, attempt to murder, robbery and dacoity,” he said.
