HYDERABAD, Dec 30: The entire electronics market remained closed and the electronic dealers observed total strike following the manhandling of an electronics dealer, Bashir Memon, by an ASI of the Baldia police station on Sunday.
Two electronic dealers, Amir and Bashir Memon, were not in the best of terms. Mr Amir in order to pressurise Mr Bashir sought the help of ASI Rao Nazim, Baldia police station, who was a friend of his.
The ASI went to Amir’s shop and started beating him up.
The president of the Electronic Dealers Association, Mr. Badaruddin, tried to intervene but he too was manhandled and abused by the ASI.
Following the incident, the electronic dealers immediately went on strike. A delegation also met the SP, city, Sattar Detho, and the ASP, city, Sharjeel Kharal, and complained to them regarding the roguish attitude of the ASI concerned.
The association has constituted a committee to pursue the matter. It has given two days to the authorities concerned to award deterrent punishment to the ASI.
It has been learnt through a reliable source that the ASI has been suspended.
The association has decided to resume normal business activities from Monday (i.e. today).
