HYDERABAD, Dec 30: The deputy district officer, revenue, Latifabad, Dr Mohammad Farooq Leghari, has been nominated as the coordinating officer for shifting the affected families of Pucca Qila to government quarters in Junejo Colony, Gunju Takkar, SITE area, here.
Mr Leghari, during the physical survey of the colony, found out that several houses had already been illegally occupied by unauthorized persons who did not have genuine and valid documents.
He notified that the illegal allotments, would be cancelled and advised the occupants to prove their claims in his office by Jan 8.
It may be pointed out here that many lives have been lost due to the collapse of Pucca Qila walls at many places over the years.
The authorities have been considering to provide alternate accommodation to the affected families and others whose houses are dangerously perched on the walls of the historic fort.
Hyderabad District Nazim Dr Makhdoom Rafiquzzaman recently visited the Pucca Qila and expressed concern over the dilapidated condition of the fort walls. He directed to shift the families who had built living quarters on or below the boundary wall to some other place to avoid any future mishap.
PMC: A central leader of Sindh Taraqqi Passand Party and in charge of its minority’s wing, Mr Nandlal Malhi, has expressed sorrow over the death of a girl student of the Peoples Medical College, Nawabshah, Uma Devi, who had hanged herself in her hostel room.
In a statement, he said that from the statements of her colleagues, it was clear that she committed suicide in protest against the attitude of the PMC administration and the teachers.
He termed it a murder and demanded a detailed inquiry into the incident by a judge of Sindh High Court.
Meanwhile, leaders of the Sindh Taraqqi Passand Students Federation have also strongly protested against the PMC administration as a result of which Uma Devi was forced to commit suicide. They also offered support to the protest movement launched by the female students of the medical college against the administration.
Workshop: The ministry of education, in collaboration with the bureau of curriculum and extension wing, Jamshoro, organised a workshop at the Government Elementary College of Education here the other day.
