LHC seeks list of cases against Asif

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Dec 28: The Lahore High Court, Rawalpindi bench, on Friday directed the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to produce complete list of pending cases against Asif Ali Zardari.

Justice Mohammad Nawaz Abbasi, senior puisne judge, on the writ petition of Asif Ali Zardari, directed the NAB to produce the list of pending cases against the petitioner who had been granted bail in thirteen cases.

The writ was originally filed in Rawalpindi Bench but the petitioners were advised to file it at the principal seat as the matter pertained to NAB.

The writ petition, after being filed at the Lahore seat, was referred to the Rawalpindi Bench which was taken up on Friday.

Advocates Farooq H. Naek and Shafqat Abbasi appeared before Justice Nawaz Abbasi and contended that the order of the NAB chairman directing the Inspector General Police, Islamabad, to arrest Asif Zardari was vague and malafide as no case was pending against him.

It was further stated that NAB authorities were keeping Asif Zardari behind bars, despite the fact that he had been granted bail in all the pending thirteen cases.
