PESHAWAR, Dec 28: The Malakand district Nazim, Mohammad Hamayun Khan, has said that a 400-line digital telephone exchange has been approved for Agra and its surrounding villages.
Work on the project will begin soon, he said, speaking at an open kutchery at Agra on Friday. Agra Nazim Fazlur Rehman Khan, local officials and a large number of people attended the public gathering.
The district Nazim called upon the people to coordinate with officials concerned to select a site for the telephone exchange. A water supply project for the area was being considered, he added.
He regretted that some people were creating hurdles in the implementation of development schemes, and urged them to make the devolution plan successful for their own good.
Mr Khan remarked that the plan could succeed only if the people fully coordinated with the district administration.
The Agra Nazim identified certain basic collective issues, and stressed the need for making efforts to solve the problems collectively.
He assured the Malakand Nazim of his support and cooperation in carrying out the development schemes.
The residents of Agra and Bandajat informed the Nazim about their problems. The Nazim directed the officials to attend to their problems as early as possible.
