Rs2, 1 notes cease to be legal tenders on Jan 1


KARACHI, Dec 22: The State Bank of Pakistan announced on Saturday that one rupee and two rupee currency notes will cease to be the legal tender with effect from Jan 1, 2002.

The SBP has advised the general public to get these notes exchanged from the branches of the State Bank and commercial banks latest by Dec 31.

The SBP pointed out that coins of the same denomination i.e. of Re1 and Rs2 are easily available at the SBP and commercial banks’ branches across the country.—APP
