SIALKOT, Dec 22: A villager was critically injured and 31 houses were partially damaged in fresh wave of Indian firing on different sectors of the Sialkot working boundary on Saturday night.
Reports reaching here said the Indians stepped up shelling at 8pm on almost all sectors.
The villager was identified as Mohammad Rafiq (65) of Thathi Kalan. He was brought to the Sialkot CMH where his condition was stated to be serious.
Reports said the shelling also partially damaged 20 houses in the village, including Rafiq’s.
Earlier in the day, 11 houses were reportedly damaged in Indian firing in Chhumb, Bajwat, Chaprar, Charwa, Sucheetgarh, Zafarwal, Kingra, Umaranwali, Oori and Shakargarh sectors.
Villagers reported enhanced troop movement on both sides of the working boundary.
FIRE TRADED: AFP adds: Indian and Pakistani troops traded fire over their disputed border in Kashmir Saturday, leaving Indian bunkers damaged, a Pakistani military spokesman said in Islamabad.
“There have been some mortar shells and artillery fire across the Line of Control and the Siachen border from the Indian troops,” the spokesman said.
