LAHORE, Dec 22: The sitting panel of the Lahore Race Club stewards was re-elected during the elections held for the year 2002 at the annual general meeting of the LRC at its premises on Saturday.
Syed Fakhar Imam was unanimously re-elected as the LRC chairman for the fifth consecutive term. He has been continuing as the LRC chairman since 1997.
The stewards re-elected are:
Syed Wajid Ali Shah, Arbab Nur Muhammad Khan, Malik Hamid Ali Noon, Brigadier (retd.) Ihjaz Hussain, Sheikh Sajjad Hassan, Mir Ikram Mahmood, Syed Parvez Hussain Shah, Malik Ghulam Nabi, and Muhammad Nawaz Tiwana.
Besides, the Home Secretary, Punjab, and the Inspector- General Of Police, Punjab are ex-officio stewards of the LRC.
After the elections, chairman Syed Fakhar Imam presided over a meeting of the stewards which took some important decisions for strict managerial control, promotion of horse-breeding and fair competition in the races. The meeting also reviewed financial position of the club. The amount of stake-money to be awarded to the horses placed second and third has been enhanced with a view to encourage owners to try their maximum number of horses. The meeting urged the owners to benefit from this incentive.
