ST MORITZ, Switzerland, Dec 22: Karen Putzer took advantage of changing weather conditions to upset the favourites and win only the second race of her World Cup career in a super-G Saturday.
Putzer, whose only previous win came in the same venue two seasons ago, led an Italian celebration with team mate Daniela Ceccarelli finishing second, the best result of her career.
Putzer clocked one minute 26.18 seconds and Ceccarelli 1:26.93. Austrian Stefanie Schuster and American Kirsten Clark shared third place in 1:27.15.
Six of the first 10 starters failed to finish as poor light made conditions difficult on the treeless Engiadina course. But visibility improved markedly when the sun broke through the clouds for the two Italians.
