KARACHI, Dec 21: Acute water shortage continues to persist in different parts of the city owing to leakages in pipelines.

The localities from where complaints of shortage of water due to leakages in pipelines have been received include North Karachi’s sectors 11-A, 11-B and 11-C, Lasbella and Garden East.

The residents of the affected areas said that since a substantial quantity of water was being wasted from the leaking pipelines passing through their localities, they were being supplied scant supply with low pressure.

They said that the wastage of water from the leaking pipelines had not only created acute water shortage but was also damaging streets where water often remained accumulated.

A visit to the dilapidated portion of Nishtar Road will show that the pipeline passing beneath it often remains leaking at different places, causing water shortage in the adjoining localities such as Lasbella and Garden East.

LYARI: Complaints of persisting water shortage have also been received from the residents of Mithadar, Kharadar and Lyari’s Nawabad and Dariabad.

The residents of the affected areas complained that although they had been experiencing acute water shortage since long, the concerned officials of the KWSB had so far failed to take measures for restoring normal supply.

They demanded of the KWSB managing director to direct the concerned officials to immediately restore normal supply to their localities as they could not afford to buy private tankers.
