SHIKARPUR, Dec 19: Former federal defence minister and PPP leader Mr Aftab Shaban Mirani has said that no direction was set by the present rulers to overcome the national and international problems and instead of resolving the people’s problems, the government was depriving them of their basic rights.

He was talking to newsmen here at an Eid Milan Party hosted by district PPP press secretary Barkat Ali Bhutto on Tuesday.

He said that elected democratic government was the only solution of the problems as no undemocratic government could succeed to bring the country out of economic and political crisis.

He said that PPP was making all out efforts for restoration of democratic process in the country for well-being of the masses and integrity of the country.

Mr Mirani claimed that PPP enjoyed the support of majority the masses and predicted that it would win the ensuing general election under the dynamic leadership of Ms Benazir Bhutto.

He was confident that she would be the prime minister once again to serve the nation and the country.

He hoped for early return of PPP chairperson Ms Benazir Bhutto to her country to lead the party in the general election.

He said that the PPP would contest general elections only from the party platform without seeking support of any political alliance to win the elections.

Replying to a question, Mr Mirani said, “PPP believes in settlement of political as well as national issues through dialogue, therefore there is no question of executing any deal with Gen Pervez Musharraf by Ms Bhutto for the release of Asif Zardari.
