Prisoner attempts suicide

KOHAT, Dec 19: A prisoner was taken to Liaquat Memorial Hospital in a serious condition after he swallowed shaving blades in Kohat central prison.

Sources said that Sabir had swallowed the blades in protest against what he believed his false implication in a criminal case and subsequent award of sentence by a court.

Sabir, who has been serving two-year term, demanded his retrial.

He had warned that if he survived he would again attempt to kill himself because he was under immense mental agony due to injustice done to him by the police and the judge.
