KARACHI: Insanitary conditions in Karachi

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Dec 19: Various parts of the city presented an ugly scene during Eid holidays owing to poor sanitary conditions.

A visit to different parts of the city showed that the health workers of civic bodies did not remove garbage even on main streets of different localities. Jehangir Road, S. M. Taufiq Road and other areas faced an ugly scene.

Heaps of garbage along the roadsides gave an impressing to motorists and passersby that refuse collecting vans did not lift garbage during the last one week or so, thereby creating a filthy environment in such localities.

Residents of different localities complained that since sweepers did not attend to their duties on first two days of Eid, their street remained littered with dirt and garbage on Eid.

However, some sweepers were seen sweeping roads and streets on the third day of Eid, they added.
